Weather Policy Guidelines

The referee has the final say on canceling or delaying games because of weather
conditions. The following guidelines will be used by Ashwaubenon referees:

Extreme heat. When the temperature is at 90 degrees and the heat index is at a dangerous
level, the referee should cancel the game. If hot enough, the referee can decide to shorten
the quarters or halves and/or allow breaks for water.

Extreme cold. When the temperature drops below 30 degrees and the wind chill index drops below zero,
the game should be canceled.

Severe wet weather. The referee may cancel a game if wet weather has made the field unsafe.

Lightning. At the sight of lightning, the referee should postpone the game until
the threat of lightning passes.

Players and coaches are reminded to show up at the field if they do not receive a phone call
canceling the game. Parents always have the right to pull their child off the field if they think
there is a danger. In age groups where there are no referees, the coaches will decide if the game
should be canceled.
